I spent a couple more hours on the development riff uploaded to the last post and decided to name this track after one of the synth pad voices used in the opening eight bars – “Indian Summer”. Name chosen, it was time to develop that idea so I picked up a copy of the soundtrack to Slumdog Millionaire from iTunes and had a listen while walking the dog.

To be frank, I don’t think much of that has rubbed off (but I really love the M.I.A. track and remix of Paper Planes!). This still has some way to go – in terms of arrangement, voices and the mix – but at the moment I’m pretty happy with the overall direction it’s taking.

If you can spare a moment to comment, I’d love your feedback!

Sidelined the loop I was working with last week as I couldn’t develop it any further. I’m sure I’ll return to it at some point, but felt it better to start with something new rather than continue barking up that particular tree.

Not sure what direction this will take, but here’s what I’ve been working on tonight.

Also, really looking forward to hearing how Pete (Topfloor Music) has mastered Capitulation, though I fear the version I’ve sent him might have some of the levels incorrectly mixed – synth pads too high, drums too low. Will have a listen tomorrow morning.
